BOLLYWOOD THE SHOW – February 26 – March 23
The story begins at the Temple of Shiva in India. The Merchant family dynasty, represented by Shantilal and his granddaughter Ayesha, are responsible for keeping the old Kathak (the dance of the gods) dance rituals alive.
Shantilal starts his own school for traditional, folkloric dances. Ayesha prefers modern, Western-inspired dance styles and rebels against her grandfather, becoming the queen of Bollywood choreography. Ayesha returns to her hometown to make peace with her grandfather. The trip brings her back in touch with her roots and her childhood love: Uday. Shantilal is dying and Ayesha decides to continue the family tradition, get married and stay in her homeland, Rajasthan.
Tears are shed, old wounds heal, and an old conflict is settled though an intense journey into the sacred heart of dance.
